We are pleased to announce the Third International Hindi Conferenc will be held from April 29 to May 1, 2016 at the Consulate General of India, 3 East 64 St. NY NY 10065. The Consulate General of India, New York and the Hindi Sangam Foundation has joined hands with Hindi professionals from Columbia University, CUNY, New York University, Yale University and others to organize the third edition of the International Hindi Conference.

he conferenc is open to all who work and conduct research in the field of Hindi language, literature and culture as well as for the promotion of its use in the various career paths including academics, business, medical, social services, engineering and sciences.

The theme of the conference is:TEACHING HINDI TO SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (THSOL): Pedagogical perspectives,
Language Planning and Program Development

The theme reflects the growing demand for coordinated efforts by the language education (public and private), government and business communities to expand the Hindi field inside and outside of India.

We invite you to submit a proposal on a topic relevant to the theme for an individual presentation (30 minutes) or a group panel (90 minutes). Please send an abstract of 100 words via email to hindiconferencenyc2014@gmail.com.

Please refer to some of the main topics of the conference:  
- The role of Hindi literature, arts and media in negotiating issues of identity on a national and transnational level;  
- Current status of the teaching and learning of Hindi in India and among the Diaspora communities;  
- Individual and organizational partnerships and leadership consolidating efforts to increase support of the study of the Hindi language and literature;  
- Field capacity and infrastructure building vis-a-vis teacher training, material development and technology-supported projects.
